Brighton vs Liverpool’s match started with full attacking forces.
After both sides suffered emotionally draining setbacks last weekend, Liverpool and Brighton played to an entertaining 2-2 draw at the Amex on Sunday.
Brighton troubled Liverpool throughout the match with their vigorous press and counter, but after going in front early on through a Simon Adingra goal, they coughed up the lead just before halftime. Mohamed Salah’s quickfire double just prior to the break put the Reds in front.
Yet the Seagulls wouldn’t go away, and Lewis Dunk met a 78th minute free-kick delivery with his foot, depositing it into the back of the net to share the points.
Both sides will rue a big missed chance in the second half, as halftime substitute Ryan Gravenberch pinged the crossbar while Joao Pedro missed a glorious late chance to win it.
Liverpool will regret their missed opportunity to pull within a point of Premier League leaders Tottenham, but know this road point was hard-earned. Brighton, meanwhile, pull into sixth with the draw, just a point back of the third-placed Reds.

Both teams put in a real shift, and a draw is a fair result. The missed opportunities will leave both managers shaking their heads at what could have been, especially Roberto de Zerbi who saw his team dominate the first half before collapsing late, but the 90 minutes were entertaining from a neutral perspective.
Each side leaves something on the table, but they’ve also picked up a valuable point against a quality opponent.
