The Walking Dead: Dead City Season 1 Episode 3 People Are a Resource

The Walking Dead, somewhat ironically, may never die. It has had spin-offs for years; Fear the Walking Dead has run the gamut from serviceable to brilliant to terrible to totally unrecognizable, The World Beyond was a torpid YA endeavor, and Tales of the Walking Dead was a semi-decent anthology that you could ultimately take or leave.

The Walking Dead: Dead City, which spins off directly from the flagship show’s series finale and centers on the delicate relationship between two longstanding fan-favorite characters in Maggie and Negan, is the first of these secondary shows to feel both intimately connected to the events of the main storyline and somewhat worthwhile on its own terms.

• Negan and Maggie met Esther, Tommaso and Amaia, New Yorkers who had also been victims of The Croat and his people.
• Negan explained to Maggie that the Croat was once his torturer, but was deemed too psychopathic even by Savior standards. When he needlessly tortured and killed a young woman against Negan’s orders, Negan tried to kill him but he survived and escaped.
• Negan scares off a group called the Burazi by disemboweling one of their men from a balcony. Maggie is appalled by this.
• Ginny was taken in at the Hilltop offshoot but ran away.
• Perlie was captured by the Croat, but received warmly — seems like they’re forming an alliance against Negan.
