After eight intense episodes, it’s almost time to bid farewell to the first season of The Last of Us. Throughout those eight episodes, we watched as Joel and Ellie attempted to survive. They were both formidable survivors already, so making it through the apocalypse was always possible. What they didn’t expect was to start caring about each other. But, as they protected one another from the dangers of the world, that’s exactly what happened.
Their mission of survival had an endgame: Making their way to a Firefly base in the hopes of synthesizing a cure or vaccine to the cordyceps infection from Ellie’s immunity. And now, with the season finale almost upon us, their destination may be in sight.

The Last of Us‘ first season will conclude with its ninth episode. Aptly titled “Look For The Light”, the finale is expected to see Joel and Ellie find their way to the Fireflies. Why? Because the series premiere was titled “When You’re Lost in the Darkness”, and when you put both of those titles together, you get the famous Firefly slogan: “When You’re Lost in the Darkness, Look For the Light”.
But getting to the Fireflies has been easier said than done, as the duo recently discovered that the base they were heading towards was no longer the Firefly headquarters. With the anti-heroes of the piece having moved out to a new location, will Ellie and Joel be able to find them in time?
The Last of Us has quickly become the most compelling TV show of the year, and you can bet HBO has no plans of changing that in the finale. We can’t wait to see how it concludes (and sets up season 2 in the process).
