Morgan Wallen Releases Three New Songs: “Everything I Love,” “Last Night” & “I Wrote The Book”.
Morgan Wallen released three new songs from his just-announced third studio album, One Thing At A Time.
On Tuesday (Jan. 31), the East Tennessee native shared a trio of tunes, including “Everything I Love,” “Last Night” and the previously teased tune, “I Wrote The Book.” The set of new songs is just a taste of what’s to come on his highly-anticipated new album, which follows his record-breaking sophomore project, Dangerous: The Double Album.
Co-written by Wallen alongside HARDY and Cameron Montgomery, the reflective track begins with Wallen singing about all the things he excels at, such as fishing, hunting, baseball and more, which he details he could write a novel about. “When it comes to hitching the boat up / backing down the ramp / in my old truck / to find a bunch of logs / to catch a bunch of hogs / yeah, I wrote the book, yeah, I wrote the book / If you want to learn to throw a curve right / catch a clean up looking on a third strike / talk a little smack while he’s walking back / yeah, I wrote the book.”
As the song continues, Wallen realizes there’s more important things in life he struggles with or is a novice at. “But there’s one that lays by the lamp on the night stand / One that says don’t cuss and don’t fight / Or let the bottle turn you into a devil man / But damn if I don’t do it every Friday night / Those get you into Heaven words written in red / Ain’t getting read enough to keep me on the straight line / I’m a jack of all trades, but man I gotta say / That’s one book I didn’t write.”
Arriving on March 3, One Thing At A Time will feature 36 new songs, including duets with Eric Church, HARDY and ERNEST. Wallen’s sister Ashlyne will also make an appearance on the project, singing harmonies on the song titled “Outlook.”
“I grew up in church singing three-part harmonies with my two sisters. That’s how I learned to sing, so this was a full-circle moment for Ashlyne and me,” Wallen continued.
The 36-track project follows the December release of Wallen’s three-song One Thing At A Time – Sampler, which included “One Thing At A Time,” “Days That End In Why,” and “Tennessee Fan.”
One Thing At A Time will showcase Wallen’s wide range of musical influences as well as combine his love for country, rock and hip-hop.
“This record represents the last few years of my life, the highs and the lows,” Wallen said in a press release. “It also brings together the musical influences that have shaped me as an artist – country, alternative and hip-hop.”
