Southampton vs Chelsea 2-1‘s match started with full attacking forces.
Southampton give away a silly free-kick on the wing, great position to whip something in for Chelsea. Aimed towards Silva, it’s booted away. The Blues have to go all the way back into their own half too, as the Saints do push up. Pulisic then gives away a foul and Southampton will take their sweet time over this.
No more playing out from the back from the Saints, lumping it long now. Chelsea’s attacks pretty much exclusively coming down the left with Mount, Chilwell and Cucurella. Nothing too dangerous yet though.
Corner again for Southampton… cleared off the line! Superb from Thiago Silva, who has somehow flicked it away with the outside of his foot. Sensational defending.
Chelsea starting to look more dangerous as Southampton drop off – hosts have got to try and push up when they can. They’re struggling to get out at all now. Sterling and Mount combine nicely, before a reverse pass is cut out. Becoming increasingly last-ditch.
Southampton harrying Chelsea at every opportunity, roared on by the crowd. That’s better from Pulisic, fires a low ball across the face of goal. Cleared away though. Sterling then swings a cross in, Broja’s header is comfortably saved.
It’s just not happening for Chelsea – not clicking in attack at all. Switch to a back three with that triple change hasn’t made them look any more solid at the back either. Another poor display on the road so far.
