Manchester United are back in action this afternoon as they host Everton at Old Trafford and they’re looking to continue their winning streak.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side have won their last three games in all competitions with standout victories against Tottenham and Manchester City in the past week and a half and Solskjaer will be hoping for another dominant performance this afternoon.

Chelsea’s defeat against Bournemouth yesterday means a victory for United would see them move within two points of fourth spot going into the busy Christmas fixture period.

In terms of team news, United are still without Paul Pogba but Jesse Lingard returns to the starting XI after missing the game against AZ Alkmaar on Thursday night with a knock he picked up in the Manchester derby. Mason Greenwood is on the bench.

Sharp play from United. Quick one two between Rashford and Martial but Pickford is out to collect.

United will be encouraged by space behind Everton defence

That was a poor finish from James and Pickford should have been out to claim it, but the amount of space beyond Everton’s back four will encourage United. James was always winning that foot race and he had plenty of ground to run into.

10′ 0-0 James chance

McTominay feeds the ball to James on the right who uses his pace to beat Digne but the Welshman drags his shot wide. Pickford is getting grief from his captain for not coming out to close James down.

9′ 0-0 Rashford chance

Lindelof with a lovely ball through to Rashford who has a great chance to open the scoring for United but he just can’t wrap his foot around the ball properly.

Everton don’t look remotely intimidated

Holgate has pushed into midfield now, so Davies isn’t isolated, and it’s a flat 4-4-2 again; just like it was against Chelsea last week.

De Gea is still testing his joint but not asking for any treatment and Romero hasn’t warmed up at all.

In fairness to Everton, they have tried to get on the front foot in these opening stages and do not look remotely intimidated.
