The third instalment is currently scheduled for a November 23, 2022 release date, banking on the Thanksgiving holiday weekend in the USA. So far, that date seems fairly set in stone, but with the constant changes to cinema schedules happening recently, never say never.
There’s no enemy like the past. Things are more personal than ever in the first trailer for the upcoming boxing sequel, Creed III. Released courtesy of MGM Studios, the footage finds Michael B. Jordan in the ring once again as Adonis Creed, who will have to face the demons of his past in the form of Loki star Jonathan Majors. Check out the knockout trailer for Creed III below.
Creed 3 picks with Michael B. Jordan’s champion boxer having lived the last few years in absolute luxury and happiness alongside his wife, Bianca Taylor (Tessa Thompson) and child. But that luxury is about to come to an end thanks to the return of a face from Adonis’ past. While details of Jonathan Majors’ role have been rather mysterious until now, the footage reveals that he will indeed play a man named Anderson Dame. An old friend of Adonis’ from his time spent at a juvenile detention center, Dame has returned to take what he believes is his: fame, wealth, and glory in the ring.
The trailer offers our first look at Creed 3, which will find Adonis and Dame starting as (somewhat shaky) friends before resulting in a final battle between the pair. The footage gives off major Warrior vibes (the critically acclaimed MMA drama starring Tom Hardy and Joel Edgerton) and should provide both Michael B. Jordan and Jonathan Majors with plenty of opportunities to land KOs on each other. Both verbally and physically.
Creed 3 is being directed by Michael B. Jordan, in his feature directorial debut, with a screenplay by Keenan Coogler and Zach Baylin from a story they co-wrote with Ryan Coogler. Alongside Michael B. Jordan and Jonathan Majors, the sequel stars Tessa Thompson as Bianca Taylor, Phylicia Rashad as Mary Anne Creed, Wood Harris as Tony “Little Duke” Evers, and Creed 2 star Florian Munteanu as Viktor Drago as well as Selenis Leyva, Thaddeus J. Mixson, Spence Moore II, Mila Davis-Kent, and Canelo Álvarez.
Director and star Michael B. Jordan has teased the dedication that both he and Majors have put into bringing Creed 3 to life. Which should result in some of the most epic fight scenes in the franchise. “Jonathan’s just an incredible actor, an incredible person,” Jordan said of his co-star. “Me and him, we just connected the first time we spoke. And then when I pitched him the film, he hit me right back and it was all go from there, you know? So, he was bought in. He has so many different talents, and things that he brings to the table. He was just perfect for the role, so it was a match made in heaven. I’m extremely lucky. We’re very blessed to have him and I can’t wait for everybody to see what we do.”
Creed III is scheduled to be released in the United States on March 3, 2023, by United Artists Releasing.
