Zvigunwe” Ritual Hits Zimbabwe With Claims That People Are Selling Off Their Toes For Riches

The practice of cutting and Selling one’s toes is now getting common among locals in Zimbabwe, due to the high poverty rate and suffering occuring in the country . The practice is called “Zvigunwe” . The practice is said to be spreading rapidly across Harare .

 

There have been speculations that they were selling each toes for for as low as $20000 and as high as $ 50 000. These toes are then being used for ritual practices. Some locals have allegedly sold theirs , with some selling more than one of their toe depending on how desperate they for money .

 

Further allegations suggest that ximex dealers are always wearing closes shoes, socks and sandals to conceal their feet with some few missing toes .

Local publication H-Metro quoted a source who said the issue started as a joke among fellow dealers at Ximex Mall but ended up being blown out of proportion.
