Screen Rant is thrilled to present an exclusive new clip from the second season of Blindspotting. Serving as a continuation of the 2018 film, Blindspotting picks up following the events of the movie and centers on Ashley as she copes with the fallout of her partner Miles unexpectedly being sent to prison. The series stars Hamilton‘s Jasmine Cephas Jones as Ashley, alongside actors like Good Trouble‘s Candace Nicholas-Lippman as Janelle and Jaylen Barron of Shameless as Trish.
Just like the film, Blindspotting balances comedic and dramatic moments, containing just as many tense moments and reveals as it does times of hilarious absurdity. One of the biggest of these recent reveals came at the end of the first season, where the audience finally learned of the husband and step-child Janelle left behind in Bali. Despite leaving him in Bali, Janelle has stayed in touch with her ex-husband Mustafa, with the two frequently corresponding over text.
Screen Rant‘s exclusive clip from “Karate Kiss” centers on the in-person reunion between Janelle and Mustafa. Mustafa states that he came to surprise her, which Janelle initially rebuffs, stating that the messages she’s sent him didn’t mean she wanted him to come all the way from Bali for her. However, he then reveals he also brought with him some of her favorite candy, softening her a bit and ending the clip on a warmer note.
Though often a source of fun and comic relief in the show, Janelle can also be quite closed off emotionally when it comes to her romantic relationships, as evidenced by the fact the very existence of her ex-husband wasn’t even revealed for most of the first season. Seeing her soften in this scene is significant, and poses interesting questions about what the future holds between her and Mustafa. Fans will have to wait and see what’s next for Janelle over the course of Blindspotting‘s second season.
