Manchester City vs Sevilla’s match started with full attacking forces.
The ball breaks to Lewis after a corner and the youngster opts to have a go but though his effort is powerful it is well wide and hits the stanchion supporting the net. He spares himself a smile afterwards.
The goalkeeper comes out of his line quick to bring the ball down on his chest and lay it off to Foden under pressure. Foden then carries the ball forward and links with Grealish before shooting on target.
Ortega is called into action shortly afterwards to palm Mir’s low, near-post strike away.
Foden whips in a dangerous cross from a free-kick but Dias can’t get good contact with it and it deflects off his knee and goes just wide of the post.
Alvarez is haring up and down the pitch, chasing back to his own half to try and win the ball back. Grealish and Mahrez are pushing up in his absences, although you do feel it is a night to keep Sevilla as penned back as possible.
After the two early chances, the game has settled into a predictable pattern of City dominance. There’s not an awful lot going on but a run and attempted dinked ball from Grealish woke up a very sleepy crowd. And with no tempo in this game it already looks like individual moments will be the only thing that gets the crowd excited tonight.
