It is reported that the business mogul slumped in his home in Nnewi during a relaxation game with some friends. He was said to have been rushed to Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching Hospital where he was confirmed d**d on arrival. At the moment, his remains Powerofnaija learnt is in the mortuary.

Chief Pius Ogbuawa became popular during the kidnap attempts of Chief Innocent Chukwuma(CEO, Innoson Group), that led to the death of a Chinese national that was working then for Innoson Group.

His spare parts business and brand name, Ogbuawa and Sons dominated the Nkwo Nnewi spare parts business between 2004-2008. To date, Ogbuawa is still a popular brand name in Nkwo market.
