American rapper, Mac Miller passed away on Friday from an “apparent drug overdose”. Mac’s family has now released a statement on his death.
According to TMZ, the rapper, whose birth name is Malcolm McCormick cause of death has not yet been made public. But, as shared with Rolling Stone his family statement reads;
“Malcolm McCormick, known and adored by fans as Mac Miller, has tragically passed away at the age of 26
“He was a bright light in this world for his family, friends and fans. Thank you for your prayers. Please respect our privacy. There are no further details as to the cause of his death at this time.”
Following his death, series of condolence messages have been poured out for the late on social media from fans, colleagues and friends.
Mac Miller released his ambitious and personal fifth studio album Swimming in August. He was scheduled to go on tour in support of the project in October. Just yesterday, he expressed excitement in his anticipation of the upcoming shows: “I wish it started tomorrow.”

Unfortunately, Mac Miller reportedly passed away today from an apparent drug overdose and many of his former peers are reaching out to send their condolences.
Mac changed people’s lives and nobody can ever take that away from him. His legacy will live on forever through his music. He had evolved strongly as an artist over the years and while we once thought of him as a frat-boy type rapper, he turned into one of the most polished artists today. Many have started to pour out their condolences after hearing the news, including Khalid, Lil Skies, Westside Gunn, and others.
