Ebonyi Shutdown Schools Over Lassa Fever Outbreak

All private, government and mission schools in Ebonyi, has been shut down by the state government following the out break of Lassa Fever in the state.

A nurse and a doctor, have died since the outbreak, contracting the disease form their patients.

Prof. John Eke, the State Commissioner for Education, made the announcement about the closure of schools via  a statement released from his office this morning.

According to Eke, the decision was arrived at after a mother and her child tested positive to the disease yesterday, adding that schools will remain closed till next week Friday to ensure the safety of school children in the state.

He also warned parents to be extra vigilant of who they come in contact with and ensure their environment remains clean.
