Coach Mauricio Pochettino Reveals Major Tottenham Transfer Update

Mauricio Pochettino has revealed that, as of today, Tottenham Hotspur are not close to signing any players, amid questions over rumoured interest in Bordeaux winger Malcom.

The Argentine has made just one signing in the winter window sig=nce joining the club back in 2014, a deal which saw Dele Alli join from MK Dons for £5m and rejoin the Dons on loan for the remainder of the season.

The 45-year-old did, however, admit that Spurs are “awake” in this transferwindow and they could look to do deals if something becomes available.

Mauricio Pochettino has admitted that Tottenham Hotspur are not, at this stage, close to signing any players in the January transfer window.

He did, however, refuse to rule out the possibility of incomings this month, claiming if something becomes available they will move.

Pochettino said:

“Until now, before the press conference, there is nothing close.

I’m not concerned, I’m not worried.

I think we are working and are awake in the market.

If something is available in terms that we can take, of course we are going to do it but,if not, it’s difficult.

Personally, I never look next to me at what the other teams are doing. It’s about how I believe and try to make things happen.”

What could Tottenham do?

One player that will not be joining Spurs is, of course, Ross Barkley who joined London rivals Chelsea instead.

Tottenham had been tracking the former Everton man but decided to drop their interest in the player, allowing the Blues to capitalise.

Another target heading into the window was Fulham’s Ryan Sessegnon, who signed a new contract with the Cottagers just last summer.

The 17-year-old is one of the hottest young properties in the country and Fulham’s vice-chairman Tony Khan has insisted the player will not leave this month.

Tottenham have also been linked to Brazilian duo Lucas Moura of PSG and Malcom of Bordeaux, however, both these two deals appear unlikely at this stage.
