Good morning! Here is today’s summary from Nigerian newspapers:

1. The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) on Thursday announced the launch of its Hausa Radio Service. It said the service will hit the airwaves on Saturday, January 6th on short wave 15110 KHz 19 Meter Band. The announcement was contained in a statement by its spokesman, Emma Powerful.

2. Report has claimed that the Federal Government has said that it may have to allow marketers of Premium Motor Spirit, PMS, otherwise known as petrol to sell above the officer price of N145 per litre as it is no longer sustainable. Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Dr. Ibe Kachikwu disclosed this in Abuja during a presentation to a joint committee on Petroleum (Downstream) of the Senate and the House of Representatives on Thursday.

3. The federal government has denied that it was planning to increase the pump price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), popularly called petrol to a minimum price of N180. This was contained in a statement issued by Idang Alibi Director of Press Ministry of Petroleum Resources. It said the Minister did not make any statement at the public hearing to have suggested such plans.

4. President Muhammadu Buhari has ordered the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha to review the recent appointment of dead people into the boards of Federal Government agencies. Buhari gave the directives following the controversies that trailed the discovery of some dead people on the list of those appointed.

5. A police intelligence officer attached to the wife of Taraba State governor, Barr. Mrs. Anna Darius Ishaku, died Thursday evening when his vehicle in the convoy of Governor Darius Ishaku had an accident along Bali Jalingo road.Two other occupants of the vehicle, a CIB police officer and a nurse were equally injured and in a critical condition.

6. Three persons have been reported dead following the latest attack on Anyiin, the country home of the ex-Governor Gabriel Suswam by suspected Fulani herdsmen in Benue State. It was gathered that the gunmen, apart from killing three people ransacked three roadside kiosks and made away with over one hundred mobile phones, destroyed assorted drinks and other valuables.

7. Egypt winger, Mohammed Salah was biggest winner at the CAF Award which held last night as he emerged the African Footballer of the Year ahead of his Liverpool team-mate Sadio Mane and Borussia Dortmund’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. Nigeria female star, Asisat Oshoala also emerged the best female player in Africa.

8. Over 20 persons were yesterday injured in Idanre town, Idanre local government area of Ondo State when the supporters of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) clashed, throwing the community into a state of commotion. Report says the incident caused pandemonium in Isalu area of the ancient town, as people were seen running for their safety.

9. Troops of Operation Lafiya Dole deployed in Pulka Thursday rescued one of the Chibok girls abducted by Boko Haram terrorists earlier in 2014. A statement from Col Onyema Nwachukwu, Deputy Director, Public Relations Theatre Command, Operation Lafiya Dole said, so far, preliminary investigations revealed that the young girl identified as Salomi Pagu is the same as the Chibok girl published on serial 86 of the online list of abducted Chibok girls.

10. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Thursday grilled a former President of the Senate, David Mark in connection with alleged N5.4billion slush funds. He is under probe for curious payment made to him by the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA) under Sambo Dasuki.

BREAKING: FG ANNOUNCES PHASE IV OF COVID-19 LOCKDOWN

The federal government has announced phase four of the dreaded  lockdown. Announcing the news, the government said this lockdown is going to be effective in all the 36 states of the nation beginning from midnight tomorrow.

The Federal Government has announced Phase IV of the COVID-19 lockdown across all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

The Head of Technical Secretariat of the Presidential Steering Committee (PSC) on COVID-19, Dr. Mukhtar Mohammed, who made the announcement on Monday in Abuja, said the new directive is to take effect by midnight of Tuesday, May 11.

With the lockdown imposed, mass gatherings in public spaces have been restricted to 50 people at any given time. Access to government institutions would also be denied to anyone not wearing a face mask while government meetings and travels have been limited to the virtual platform.

According to Mohammed, the government has directed that bars and nightclubs should remain closed and the nationwide curfew will be in force until further notice. He added that only essential international travels would be encouraged, and all existing protocols must be strictly adhered to.

A Nigerian woman has been flogged mercilessly by her father and brothers after her alleged s3x video surfaced online.

The brutal beating left the lady with bruises on her bum.

According to reports, the girl was also caught with a s3x toy.

She was stripped and held down by at least three grown men said to be her family members, and flogged mercilessly while she pleaded.

“Daddy please… brother please… mummy…” The woman is heard begging in Igbo as the men held her down and flogged her.

One of her male family members gagged her with a cloth when her screaming got too loud.

She was warned that the flogging will start from the beginning if she doesn’t stop screaming.

She tried to turn from the cane but her brothers were too strong for her.

“Pour water on her,” a male voice is heard saying and someone pours water on her then continues flogging her naked body.

At some point, she’s seen looking too weak to struggle.

Her skin had already turned purple with cane marks all over her butt and back. Blood can also be seen running down her face.

A voice then orders that water be poured all over her body and someone pours more water on her.

The men leave her at this moment and she turns around and tries to curl up on the floor with her legs closed.

But she was told to open her thighs so they can see the lady parts she’s using to misbehave.

She hesitated and they warned her that the beating will start again. So, she opens her legs and they begin flogging her on her private part.

The horrific video is going viral online as people ask for help in finding the family members who subjected the woman to such torture.

Some have claimed the men are not her family members and she was using the term “daddy” and “brother” to appeal to their conscience.

Photos of the alleged mastermind of the attack has been circulated online but it cannot be confirmed if the man had a hand in the horrific abuse.
